Keisie Cottages is a cosy mountain retreat, offering self-catering budget accommodation, on a small fruit and wine farm at the end of the beautiful Keisie Valley, 24 kms from Montagu, Western Cape. The farm, called ‘Vredendal’ (Peace in the Valley) is just below the world famous tractor ride on Protea Farm in the Koo Valley.
Perfect if you want to just relax and enjoy the peace and serenity of the mountains, but if you want a bit of action there is plenty to do.
Keisie Cottages has four self-catering farm, holiday mountain cottages. All the cottages are fully equipped for self-catering and all have fireplaces inside and built in barbeque's outside, just off the verandahs. There are wonderful hikes, especially one to a series of small rock pools. The farm is great for mountain biking, and we have a beautiful pool area, next to two acres of roses! You can pick your own roses for R3 a rose!
"Keisie" means "Sweet Water" in San, and the Keisie Valley is renowned for the flavour and quality of its fruits and wines. On Vredendal Farm we farm gooseberries, peaches, apricots, merlot and hanepoot grapes and quinces. We also have a variety of citrus, almonds and plums and we use all of the fruit for making our own range of jams, marmalades and preserves, mostly organic, which are available for sale on the farm. Try our fresh farm eggs, straight from the free-range chickens.
Guests are welcome to wander around the farm, as well as hike or mountain bike around the surrounding countryside (friendly farmer neighbours!), fish in the neighbour's dam or just enjoy our gardens, sit under the oak trees and pick herbs from our organic herb garden as well as gooseberries and other fruit, on request. In Winter we usually have lovely sunny days and cold nights, perfect for snuggling up in front of our huge fireplaces!
Views are stunning, we are surrounded by mountains and nature. If you’re lucky you might even see a rheebok or a mountain tortoise.
What's more you can bring your (friendly) dogs if you want, as long as they bring their own bedding !!
