Keisie Cottages is a mountain retreat, offering affordable, self-catering farm accommodation, on a small fruit and wine farm at the end of the beautiful Keisie Valley, 24 kms from Montagu in the Western Cape.
Keisie Cottages is the perfect getaway if you want to just relax and enjoy the peace and serenity of the mountains, but if you enjoy a bit of adventure, there is plenty to do. Hiking, mountain-biking, swimming, bird watching and stargazing abound on the farm. We also have a beautiful pool area, next to a stand of our prize-winning roses! The farm, called ‘Vredendal’ (Peace in the Valley) is below the Burgers Pass just 1 km along a dirt road from the R318, the road less traveled which leads from Montagu through the Keisie, to the Koo Valley and on to the N1 just after the Hex River Valley.
Your holiday here is all about getting away from the madding crowds - no TV’s or mobile reception so sit outside at night, enjoy the unbelievably starry sky, listen to the sounds of nature and rediscover the joy of spending time with people important to you without the distractions of modern life!
P.S. "Keisie" means "Sweet Water" in San, and the Keisie Valley is renowned for the flavour and quality of its fruits and wines. Come to our farm and sample our fruit for yourself!
We have three charming restored farm cottages and the main farm house too:
Vine Cottage (sleeps 2),
Lavender Cottage (sleeps 4),
Fig Tree Cottage (sleeps 2) and
Gooseberry House (sleeps 8-10).
All are self-catering, self-contained and electrified for convenience with all the fittings needed to make your stay pleasurable.
The three cottages are near the communal pool, and close to Gooseberry House which has its own pool. All the units have large indoor fireplaces, stoeps and braai facilities.
Views are stunning, we are surrounded by mountains and nature. There is a wide variety of wildlife (normally quite shy) on the farm, ranging from the occasional leopard to the abundant dassie. There are numerous birds to spot including black eagles and close to a hundred different birds have already been confirmed on the farm.
Guests are welcome to wander around the farm, fish in the local dams, walk up the river to bathe in the natural rock pools, go on various hikes or mountain bike rides or just enjoy our gardens or sit under the oak trees and relax.
Try our delicious gooseberries straight off the bush or pick some vegetables or herbs in season from our own vegetable and herb gardens. Click below for more information on our available facilities and products.
Our farm is located in a magnificently picturesque valley that sits on the border between the Boland and the Klein Karoo. While there is much to keep you busy on the farm and in our valley, there are also many exciting places to visit in the area.
The towns of Montagu (24 km), Robertson (50 km), McGregor (70 km) and Barrydale (85 km) are all within easy reach of the farm should you want to venture further afield than our farm. The world-famous Protea Farm tractor ride to the top of the Langeberg mountains is on a neighbouring farm, the Avalon hot springs are on the outskirts of Montagu and there are a number of game farms close to Montagu should you wish to go on game drives.
